This was now our second visit to chandni chowk, we had geared ourselves as we knew how it was,we were prepared for the sunlight, small 'gulleys',traffic jams and chaos.
As we reached chawdi bazaar,we noticed a lot of congestion on the roads, traffic jams caused due to rickshaws and people walking on the same road and also selling their items on the same road which blocked a lot of passage.
Our main motive was to explore the food around jama masjid and also in chandni chowk.
as walked towards "nayi sadak' we started to observe stationery shops which sold almost everything at a very cheap price, basically wholesale rates. we all got very excited.
Our first food exploration was 'Channe kulche' which are originally from old delhi itself.
Then we walked towards paranthe waali galli, which was another challenge, this lane was more congested than any other lane. it had shops and rickshaw and two wheelers and pedestrians walking in the same place, the lane was not more than 3 feet broad.
On our way to paranthe waali gaali,we ate 'matar k samose' and 'kachori',which were quite famous in that area.
The moment we reached paranthe waali gaali,we were so excited,as we had heard so much about it.
The shop from where we ate was 'six generation tradition' and was one of the oldest and most popular shops.
They had about pranthas made from everything, including dry fruits and 'rabadi'.
We had an amazing feast exploring this lane as it was completely our type,
We then saw 'daulat ki chaat',we had heard so much about it that we couldn't stop ourselves. it was made of milk ,which was converted into foamy kind of substance with sugar on it.
Next stop was kinari bazaar, a market famous for beads, bangles and decorative items for clothing.
We interviewed a lot of shops and some shops only sold laces for clothing.
The price, again was cheaper than other local markets.
some people were not very willing to answer us,that was a drawback. but we somehow convinced them and moved ahead.
After so much walk in those small 'gullly's' we needed to sit down and put our thoughts to paper,so we decided to walk back to 'Jama masjid'.
The huge open area was to us to sit down and sketch.
People are allowed to carry shoes inside Jamam masjid, but are not allowed to keep the sole of the shoe on the ground,so we were instructed to keep our shoes in such a way so that the sole face each other.
On our way back, after a long day, "nataraj k dahi bhaale' were a treat for our tongue.
We look forward to explore the famous food again, as that is something that we all enjoyed.
