Knowing them a little closely

This was our 3rd visit to chandni chownk and we all were very nervous,as this time we had to talk to the shopkeepers about their business strategies and personal life.
We all were a little hesitant to talk to the people over there.
As I entered this small shoe shop, which did not have a name written outside or anywhere I was welcomed as a customer.

The shopkeeper's name was Rizwan.
'konse chappal dekhne aaye hai' he said,I told him that I was student of pearl academy and i wanted to know about his life in chandni chowk.
He was very excited as he thought we were going to make his shop famous and maybe this interview will be published.
I then started the talk by asking his age ,He told me that he was 28 years old and that shop was about 10 years old.
'aapki khud ki manufacturing hai ya aap kahin se import karwate hai'
he very proudly answered that he gets his shoes imported, and he was quite proud of it,as it was a big thing for them.
I went further by asking his qualification, he had passed class 12,and right after finishing it started off with his own shop.
He enjoyed selling shoes he said.
;Bhaiya aapke yahan aadmiyon k juton ka zyaada sale hai ya auroton k juton ka'
;madam jji, auratien juton ki zyaada shaukien hoti hai, unko har baat k liye naye aur alag jute chahiye hote hai,toh zahir hai ki auratien hi zyada samaan leti hai'
we all could personally relate to this as we all did the same.
i then asked him about the customers, if they were local or tourists.
He told me that usually local people visited his shop for regular footwear.
I picked up one of his 'chappals' to see the quality,i then asked him about the durability and quality,
he said that the rubber chhappals long last than any other chappals.
As i noticed around, his shop was quite small and i wondered about the storage problem,
he told me that storage was a huge issue in chandni chowk, due to less of space they couldnt keep all the varietes of shoes that they had,he had a small area in his house which he used to store his things.
'toh baarish k mausam mien toh bahot takleef hoti hogi'
'madam ji baarish mien toh poocho mat',chalne ki jagah tak nahi bachti, paani bhar jaata hai aur samaan bhi kharaab ho jaata hai'
He seemed very upset due to this.
He also told us about the dirty water and unhygienic area, where people did not care about the dustbins.
Spitting on roads was one of the major issues for rizwan.
'ji aapko agar chandni chowk mien kuch badlaaw dekhna ho toh woh kya hoga?'
with a lot of power in his voice he said 'Zyaada kuch nahi, bas thori zyaada jagah aur saaf safai, har jagah ka apna ek andaaz hota hai,aur iss jagah ka bhi hai'
He knew that a major change may change the whole idea of chandni chowk and it may lose its charm.
In the end i wanted to know the name of his shop, which had not been put up outside.
after a thought,he made up a name that moment and said 'chand jute waala'
We paid him our regards, said ;shukriya' and moved on.

  1. A good piece but the dialogues or the replies should be put within quotation marks to make it more prominent and correct.
