The beginning of this module was very exciting,as we were told to explore a place in specific.
We chose chandni chownk,as it was traditional and constant in a way.
This module was all about research and exploration. Chandni chownk is as exciting as it sounds.
Our first day began with planning and how do we go and travel there.
Our first visit began in metro,as we reached,we walked through small lanes with small shops and stalls selling almost everything that is beautiful.
The major issue we faced on the first day was the traffic jams inside even small lanes, where people ,animals and vehicles moved together. But still there was harmony amongst them, they some how managed.
As we walked ahead, people looked at us filled with curiosity,as they were wondering if we were from the media.
Making out way in this place was a huge issue, but we managed. our main aim was to choose an area in Chandni Chownk,so we decided to go with Jama Masjid.
Jama Masjid was a beauty in the middle of a huge chaotic place.
It was completely contradictory to Chandi Chowk, As it was a huge open area with wind blowing across.
Our second visit began from 'Nayi sadak' which was hub for stationery. It was a whole sale market from where we purchased things very cheap.
Our main motive of that day was to eat,so we ate too much, paranthe waali gali was heaven as we had heard too much about it and it was as good as we had heard.
Kinari bazaar had everything and anything for a design student,it was the perfect place for us to be in.
It was decorated with beads, laces, golden jewellery etc.
Later when we visited chandni chownk,we had to interview people ask them about how it was to be in chandni chownk, people loved being there as it was constant and traditional. But a few things like the hygiene and careless ness of the police made it a little difficult.
It was amazing to talk to people and know their experiences.
Later we had to focus on a single problem, and take out a solution for it.
So I chose the shoe theft and safety issue around Jama Masjid,as people and tourists are not able to leave their shoes outside due to lack of security, they have to carry it inside by hand, which makes it uncomfortable. the sole of the shoe is not supposed to touch the ground so they are to be kept facing each other.
The solution that I thought of is a shoe lock,to be installed outside the masjid on poles which will have a number lock on it.
I'm still working on it. But the Chandni Chowk experience has taught me much more.
Well written blog. Although the sentences break too soon and are short. Good explanation of the sequence of events
