While roaming in the market of Jama Masjid, I noticed that there was very less space for the pedestrians to walk. Because of the extended shops, we were left with no other option but to walk on the road. The constant movement of vehicles made every pedestrian venerable to accident.
As I walked further, in the narrow lanes of the market, the sewers were chocked by the litter thrown on the road. As a result, the water was seen on the roads.
Looking at the area around, I wanted to know more about it. So, I decided to talk to various shopkeepers and know more about the problems they face in their daily life.
I talked to various shopkeepers and got to know that water and garbage on the road were common problems. Also, the storage and women safety are a major issue. The nearest washroom available was at the Masjid. This caused a problem to the shopkeepers as they had to walk a little distance to meet their daily and urgent requirements. Due to non-availability of proper disposal system, the litter was being thrown on the roads. There were beggars and druggists sitting outside the restaurants. The owner of the restaurants provide food to these people. Even after numerous complaints, by the other shopkeepers, the police
doesn't take any action. If forced, they would pick some of these beggars, take them to places not near the Masjid and drop them there. These beggars would again return there by the end of the day.
These were the major and common issues that every shopkeeper there faced.
One problem to which I thought I could derive a solution to was the ‘hygiene’ problem. I wish to derive a solution which can solve this problem of the shopkeepers.
