The recent module has been very exciting. It gave us an opportunity to explore a part of Delhi and find out the various problems faced by people there.
So, our class came to a decision of exploring the CHANDINI CHOWK market and area around it.
Groups were made and they started with their research and exploration work. Every field trip gave a new experience and added more knowledge.
Chandini Chowk is a sole bazar which offers various commodities at an amazing bargain. For example, one of the market is card market where only cards for marriage or visiting purpose is printed. Another market is khadi bawadi, also known as the spice market, where all the Indian spices and ration is sold. Bhagirath Palace is market of electronics, surgical equipment and medicines. It is Asia's one of the largest electronic market.
One thing I concluded after my exploration was that every good we use in our daily life can have its own market, where it is sold at different rates with different quality grade. Every object that reaches us has margins and its price will vary depending on the quantity purchased.
Another thing to notice is that Chandini Chowk is one of those areas where you can find people with different personalities. Some may be rude, some may be polite and some may justify the statement "ATITHI DEVO BHAV". Not only the local visitors but foreigners from all over the world come to the market.
Even though the area is very crowded and cramped, it does offer you places like Jama Masjid and Red Fort where you can sit in peace.
Just like a coin has two sides, similarly the market offers us two sights- one where you see excitement in people throughout the year; the festive mood in every person and the perfect inter-mingle of different cultures. Or the second where you see the dirt, cramped and closed areas with wires hanging making it difficult to breath.
It's your choice !
The paragraphs or the sentences are not going in a flow..they somehow seem a little disconnected. But as for the facts and descriptions, it is pretty good and relevant.
